چکیده
to malignant melanoma. The exact cause is unknown. There may be hereditary factors, autosomal dominance or other multifactor determinants. Management depends upon size, location and malignant transformation. Surgical excision is the mainstay of treatment. Cultured epidermal autograph has been used successfully to cover postoperative large surface area defect. We report a one-day-old male child born with bathing trunk hairy nevus [Figure 1]. Congenital hairy nevus denotes a pigmented surface lesion present at birth in one per cent of newborns, but incidence of giant congenital pigmented nevi is less than 1 in 20,000 births. These nevi are significant because of association with leptomeningeal melanocytosis or neurofibromatosis and predispose Bathing trunk nevus

Giant congenital melanocytic nevus (bathing trunk nevus) associated with lipoma and neurofibroma: report of two cases.
Giant congenital melanocytic nevi are rare and occur in about one out of every 2,00,000 to 5,00,000 births. There is a significant association between bathing trunk nevus and neurofibromatosis and lipomatosis. Apart from this, association of bathing trunk nevus with abnormalities like spina bifida occulta, meningocele, club foot and hypertrophy or atrophy of deeper structures of a limb, have be...

The gross and microscopic features of an unusual case of neurocutaneous melanosis are described. This is an example of the rare association between a primary central nervous system malignant melanoma and a giant congenital melanocytic naevus of 'bathing trunk' distribution.

Congenital nevocellular or nevomelanocytic nevi (CNN) are considered to be hemartomatous lesions of melanocytes apparent at birth(l-3). Though CNN has an incidence of 1% of all newborns, its spectacular variantthe giant or bathing trunk nevus is extremely rare, occuring once in 5,00,000 live births(l). Giant CNN is of devastating consequence due to the cosmetic disfigurement and the great risk ...
متن کاملThe risk of melanoma and neurocutaneous melanosis associated with congenital melanocytic nevi.
Congenital melanocytic nevi are commonly encountered in clinical practice. Although the development of malignant melanoma arising in small and intermediate congenital melanocytic nevi is rare, there is a significant risk of malignant degeneration associated with large congenital melanocytic nevi, in particular those that arise on the torso in the so-called "bathing trunk" distribution, where th...
متن کاملMultidermatomal nevus comedonicus: A case report
Nevus comedonicus is an uncommon variant of adnexal hamartoma and is considered a rare subtype of epidermal nevi. It was first described in 1895 by Kofmann who used the term “comedo-nevus”. It manifests as a group of closely dilated follicular openings with dark keratin plugs resembling comedones. Both unilateral and bilateral distributions are seen. The face is the most commonly affected site ...
